About MSDC

Masters Series for Distinguished Clergy is a unique program of Skinner Leadership Institute (SLI). SLI has a 30+ year track record of success in conducting executive training programs and seminars to promote high impact and high character leaders across the nation and particularly among influential African American faith leaders.

The Masters Series for Distinguished Clergy (MSDC) is unique in that, where many traditional clergy leadership development programs focus on external leadership skills, like vision-casing, and strategic planning, at MSDC we focus on the internal qualities of high performing leadership and pair it with media and public policy advocacy training. MSDC is built on the philosophy of PROMISE DRIVEN LEADERSHIP. Our participants move from PURPOSE, or the work a leader is called to do; to PROMISE, or the difference a leader is called to make to increase the quality of life for those in their communities and for all Americans.

EQUIPPED

in high character, difference-making leadership traits with the goal of internal fortification for the pressures and temptations of high performance leadership that distinguishes Promise Driven Leaders.

What MSDC Offers

The Masters Series for Distinguished Clergy offers an intensive training program to equip high-performing clergy leaders with effective advocacy skills, and character strength training to become Promise Driven Leaders in their community. It equips clergy leaders to move past symptoms of injustice such as poverty and racism, and address the systems that produce these symptoms.

MSDC's leadership development training provides hands-on exposure for clergy leaders to national and state-level policy experts who teach them how to grasp any policy issue. MSDC also focuses on such critical internal leadership qualities as character strength, integrity, empathy, courage, confidence, and resiliency needed to “stand in the gap” on behalf of the poor and vulnerable.

Our interactive sessions feature some of the nation’s most powerful legislative, legal, civic, and faith leaders providing hands-on skills in key areas:

  • EQUIPPED in high character, difference-making leadership traits with the goal of internal fortification for the pressures and temptations of high performance leadership that distinguishes Promise Driven Leaders;

  • UNDERSTAND how public policies are shaped through legislative visits to increase confidence in public advocacy; and through legislative briefings by key House and Senate leaders on issues impacting the poor and vulnerable communities.

  • ENGAGE in mock legislative hearings on how to present compelling testimony to effectively articulate public policy priorities to decision makers; and mock press conferences and media training for effective media presence;

  • CONNECT to a network of national clergy leaders for collaboration through monthly policy briefings and bi-annual refreshers.

TESTIMONIALS

"The Skinner Leadership Institute has helped me to look at public and community service in a different light.  More importantly, it has inspired me as a pastor to encourage my parishioners to be better ambassadors for Christ in the community.” – Reverend Dr. Raymond Bell, Sr.
